I want to think about what name I would change my name to if I really wanted to change my name and could change it to anything. Then I want to think about whether or not I want to actually change my name. I want to do the same thing for moving to any city, having any career, eating any kind of ice cream, writing any type of book, and going to sleep at any time.
I'm going to be giving a tutorial at the Emerging Technology Conference called Web Service Mashup. Alan Taylor is organizing most of it and I'm also very excited that my web service hero Cal Henderson (the mastermind behind much of flickr's technical awesomeness) will also be part of this. I'm getting off my butt and putting together some web services for 43 Things, and I'll hopefully have something to show by the mashed potato up. Thinking about it this week, I think I'm just going to build a REST API, and pass on the SOAP and XML-RPC formats for now... is that selfish of me?
I'm going to be going to South By South West Interactive right before that too (10th-13th). Getting all my conference fun mashed into one multi-city flight itinerary. I'm bummed that they're overlapping a bit... especially since I wanted to make sure to go to the last night party at SXSW this year (I've missed it both of the last two years) and will be missing it again. The current challenge is to see if I can see the Malcolm Gladwell keynote on the afternoon of the 13th and still make it to my 8:30 AM!!! tutorial on the 14th.
Hope to see you soon in SXSW! :-)
