The answer is fist tapping, optionally followed by a hit-the-road thumbs-up. It's more "urban" than it is sporty. Only honkies high-five each other nowadays; the "High Fivin' White Guys" sketch on Almost Live is funny because it's true.

There is -- it's a kiss. Try it the next time you're out and about.

The cheek kiss? Actually, that is pretty classy... Stewart and Caterina pulled that one on me in Vancouver but I liked it. It can take us reserved Americans off guard, though.

There's the handshake with forearm grab. It's like a handshake++. You shake, as normal, then with your free hand, you reach out and grab the forearm of the hand you're shaking.
You can take that up a notch and do the handshake/hug. You perform this by shaking hands, as usual, and while maintaining the handshake, throw a hug in there as well. The handshake keeps a safe, macho, distance, but says more than just a handshake.
